Sabe-se, no entanto, que ela \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m sintetizada pela microbiota intestinal, mas \u00a0a quantidade produzida e sua biodisponibilidade paro o indiv\u00edduo ainda \u00e9 um assunto em discuss\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Amplamente encontrada nos alimentos, a biotina pode estar na forma livre ou ligada a prote\u00ednas, sendo que para ser absorvida precisa passar por a\u00e7\u00e3o de enzimas digestivas, uma vez que s\u00f3 \u00e9 absorvida na forma livre. A absor\u00e7\u00e3o ocorre no intestino delgado e, a partir da\u00ed circula na corrente sangu\u00ednea na forma livre ou ligada \u00e0 albumina ou \u00e0 glubulina. Pode ser reabsorvida pelos rins e \u00e9 excretada quando esse sistema est\u00e1 saturado. No organismo, atua como coenzima de carboxilases envolvidas no metabolismo energ\u00e9tico, na s\u00edntese e oxida\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1cidos graxos, na degrada\u00e7\u00e3o de amino\u00e1cidos e na gliconeog\u00eanese.<\/p>\n<p>Sua defici\u00eancia \u00e9 observada em casos de erros inatos de metabolismo, em terapia prolongada com anticonvulsivantes, consumo cr\u00f4nico de \u00e1lcool e em pacientes sob nutri\u00e7\u00e3o parenteral total por per\u00edodo prolongado. Os sinais de defici\u00eancia incluem: dermatite esfoliativa, alopecia, conjuntivite, ataxia, hipotonia, cetoacidose, retardo de desenvolvimento em beb\u00eas e crian\u00e7as, altera\u00e7\u00f5es mentais, parestesia, anorexia e n\u00e1usea.<\/p>\n<p>Comercialmente, a biotina tem sido conhecida como vitamina da beleza, associada ao crescimento de cabelos e unhas. Alguns estudos j\u00e1 tentaram demonstrar essa associa\u00e7\u00e3o, por\u00e9m ainda faltam evid\u00eancias claras sobre a recomenda\u00e7\u00e3o de suplementa\u00e7\u00e3o para pessoas saud\u00e1veis.<\/p>\n<p>H\u00e1 pouca informa\u00e7\u00e3o, tamb\u00e9m, sobre a recomenda\u00e7\u00e3o de ingest\u00e3o di\u00e1ria dessa vitamina, bem como n\u00e3o se conhece os efeitos adversos relacionados ao seu excesso. At\u00e9 agora, foram estabelecidas apenas recomenda\u00e7\u00f5es baseadas em estimativas de ingest\u00e3o de pessoas saud\u00e1veis, que podem ser observadas na tabela 1. A biotina \u00e9 amplamente distribu\u00edda em alimentos, principalmente na forma livre em alimentos de origem vegetal, e o conte\u00fado nos alimentos pode ser observado na tabela 2.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tabela 1.
